“It is a collective work in the Regards sur la traduction series. The book in question is Littéraire, pas littéraire: enjeux traductologiques d’une problématique transdisciplinaire, and here is a brief description.
“Focused on the study of the sometimes blurry boundaries between literary and non-literary texts from the perspective of their application to translation, the reflection proposed in this transdisciplinary collective aims at the emergence of a decompartmentalized translation theory, enriched by contributions from other disciplines.
Here is what René Lemay’s painting inspired for this publication: the represented face transforms while preserving its identity in what seems to be a passage or in-between space between blue (French) and red (English). This work illustrates what translation can be, and the ‘abstract thoughts’ that accompany it, namely translation studies. We also appreciate the vibrant quality of the colours, quite simply.”
Always pleased to see that René Lemay’s works continue to resonate in the academic field. This is the fourth painting selected to illustrate scholarly works.
