It is still raining this morning. After a good coffee, I am served white rice and fruit for breakfast. Unfortunately, when it rains, there is always a leak in the roof. That is part of life. At 8:30 I am supposed to meet Arie Smit at the entrance of his “Home Stay” house. I notice a painting with fairly bold colours—a landscape in the style of Arie. He welcomes me; he is very happy. He must be around 70 years old and is single. We find similarities between my paintings and his.
His house is very spacious, there is a swimming pool and a superb view. He must produce a lot. We agree to meet again later.
I painted my first painting today. There were many admirers in my studio. I am painting a blue and orange sailboat. I must finish it tomorrow; it is 14:10 and I am waiting for a phone call from Jean-François.
